PROJECT-,,POTAISSA” BEAUTIFUL ARTS CAMP 2007

During 10 – 15^th September 2007, Rotary Turda Club in partnership with the “Youth for Europe” Organization, Seth Riders Club of Cluj-Napoca and the Technical College from Turda have organized the art creation camp entitled "Potaissa". There were participating 9 plastic artists, painters and graphic artists from Sibiu, Dej, Cluj, Beclean, Turda and Simleul Silvaniei. Taking into consideration that the main theme of the camp was "Potaissa", the first stage of the art creation camp included a visit of Turda town and its surroundings – Turului Gorges, Turzii Gorges, Turda Salt Mine and the Roman camp. This visit allowed the participants to take photos and to draw sketches for their future work. Some artists preferred to work in the natural environment of the salt mine or Turzii Gorges. A new aspect of the creation camp was the presence of a sculptor, Traian Marcu, who created a torso of Ion Ratiu. The torso was first created out of gypsum which will be exhibited in the hall of the Technical College Turda, followed by its founding in bronze.
Resources: the organizers had sustained financially the costs related to the development of the camp and made sure that the artists have all the necessary equipments: canvas, paints, diluents, brushes, easels etc.
